Privacy Policy — Prep the Day

Effective date: May 28, 2026

Summary

Prep the Day is local-first. We do not run any servers, do not collect any personal information, and do not use analytics or tracking. By default, your brain dump text is processed by a local AI model on your own machine and never leaves your device. The only time text leaves your device is if you explicitly choose a cloud AI provider (Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, OpenAI, or OpenRouter) and enter your own API key — in which case the text is sent directly from your device to that provider under their terms.

Information We Collect

None. Studio Uchu does not collect any personal data or usage data from you. There is no account, no sign-in, no telemetry, and no advertising. The app does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, camera, photos, or files outside its own sandbox.

Data Stored on Your Device

To make the app work, Prep the Day stores the following locally on your device only, inside the app's sandbox:

  • Your brain dump text and the resulting task lists (saved in a local SQLite database so you can review past sessions)
  • Your app settings (selected AI provider, language, UI preferences)
  • API keys you have entered for cloud providers — stored securely in your operating system's keychain (macOS Keychain), never in plain files

This information never leaves your device through any action of ours. You can remove all of it at any time by deleting the app.

Local AI (Default)

By default, the app uses a bundled local language model (Qwen3 0.6B) that runs entirely on your machine via llama.cpp with Metal GPU acceleration. In this mode, your brain dump text is processed on-device and is never transmitted over the internet.

Optional Cloud AI Providers

If you choose to switch to a cloud provider — Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, OpenAI, or OpenRouter — and enter your own API key, the app will send your brain dump text directly from your device to the provider you selected, in order to generate the task list.

In that case:

  • Your text does not pass through any Studio Uchu server. We never see it.
  • The provider's own privacy policy and terms of service apply to that request. Please review them.
  • You can switch back to the local model at any time to stop sending text outside your device.

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

The app contains no advertising, no analytics, no tracking technologies, and no third-party software development kits (SDKs) that collect data about you.

Third Parties

Studio Uchu does not share any information with third parties, because we do not collect any. The only third parties that receive your data are the cloud AI providers you choose to connect to with your own API key, and only for the text you send during those sessions.

Children's Privacy

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised effective date.

FAQ

Does the app work offline?
Yes. The default local AI mode works fully offline. Only the optional cloud providers require an internet connection.
Is my brain dump text sent anywhere?
Not by default. Text is only sent to a cloud AI provider if you explicitly choose one and enter your own API key. Even then, it goes directly to that provider — never through us.
Where are my API keys stored?
In your operating system's secure keychain (macOS Keychain). Not in plain files, and not on any server.
How do I delete my session history?
Delete the app, or remove its local data directory. Since nothing is stored on any server, that's all you need to do.
